Overview

Explore flavours, stories and history on this 2-hour walking food tour of the Pearl. Located a few miles from downtown San Antonio, the Pearl is home to unique shops and restaurants built in and surrounded by the original brewery structures of the 1800s.

With your professional tour guide, you’ll hear stories of betrayal, murder and resilience as well as how a defunct brewery complex was transformed into an incredible culinary destination. As you learn about the area’s history and future, you’ll sample diverse dishes prepared by award-winning chefs.

The first food stop is the 103-year-old Boiler House. Here, you’ll get a taste of Texas Hill Country cuisine surrounded by vintage décor. You’ll also visit the Larder, a boutique grocery where locals stock up on gourmet products.

Marvel at the industrial yet chic lobby of Hotel Emma, a former brewhouse turned boutique hotel. Stroll along the San Antonio River Walk admiring the scenery and learning about the river’s role in the city’s food and beer scene. You’ll also see Engine No.2, a 1907 yellow train car that was part of San Antonio’s one-mile electrified rail system and learn how it served the local brewery industry.

Delight in one of San Antonio’s best Mexican street food spots, La Gloria and end the tour on a sweet not at Lick Honest Ice Creams. Enjoy some classic and adventurous ice cream flavours such as goat cheese, thyme, and lemon lavender.

Our unique pay-as-you-go model lets you enjoy more of what you want for less money, a better value than comparable food tours. Simply hand the guide $30 cash on your arrival, and they’ll take care of the rest. They’ll pay for the entire group at each of our four stops, minimizing wait time. Paying cash also makes it easy for each restaurant to offer more food so you’re guaranteed larger servings.
